Artificial Intelligence (AI) Usage Policy

1. Introduction

Omni Health Journal recognizes the growing role of artificial intelligence (AI) tools in academic research and scholarly publishing. While AI technologies can support writing, data analysis, and language editing, their use must be transparent, ethical, and responsible. This policy establishes clear guidelines for authors, reviewers, and editors regarding the appropriate use of AI tools in the preparation, evaluation, and publication of manuscripts.

2. Acceptable Use of AI Tools

Authors may use AI tools (e.g., language models, grammar checkers, or data analysis software) to assist in improving the clarity, readability, and organization of their manuscripts. AI tools may also be used for language editing, translation, or formatting purposes. However, such use must not replace the author’s intellectual contribution, critical thinking, or scientific judgment. Authors remain fully responsible for the content of their manuscripts.

3. Disclosure Requirements

Authors are required to clearly disclose the use of AI tools in their manuscripts. A statement describing the extent and purpose of AI use must be included in the Methods section or in a dedicated acknowledgment section. This disclosure should specify the name of the AI tool and how it was used (e.g., language editing, data analysis, or drafting assistance).

4. Prohibited Use of AI

AI tools must not be used to generate or manipulate scientific data, fabricate results, create misleading interpretations, or produce content without appropriate verification. The use of AI to generate entire manuscripts, falsify references, or bypass ethical research practices is strictly prohibited. Any such misuse will be considered academic misconduct.

5. Authorship and Accountability

AI tools cannot be listed as authors or co-authors. Authorship is limited to individuals who have made significant intellectual contributions to the research and manuscript. All listed authors are accountable for the integrity, accuracy, and originality of the work, regardless of any AI assistance used during manuscript preparation.

6. Reviewer Use of AI

Reviewers must treat all manuscripts as confidential documents and must not upload or share any part of a manuscript with AI tools or third-party platforms that may compromise confidentiality. The use of AI in the peer-review process is strongly discouraged unless explicitly permitted by the journal. Reviewers remain responsible for providing independent, unbiased, and expert evaluations.

7. Editor Use of AI

Editors may use AI tools to support administrative tasks, such as plagiarism detection or language checking. However, editorial decisions must be made solely by qualified human editors based on scientific merit, ethical considerations, and reviewer input. AI must not replace editorial judgment.

8. Ethical Compliance

This policy aligns with international standards and recommendations, including those from the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE). The journal is committed to ensuring that AI use does not compromise the integrity, transparency, or reliability of the scholarly record.

9. Violations and Consequences

Failure to comply with this policy may result in actions such as manuscript rejection, retraction of published articles, or notification to the authors’ institutions. The journal reserves the right to investigate any suspected misuse of AI tools.

10. Policy Updates

As AI technologies continue to evolve, this policy may be updated periodically to reflect emerging best practices and ethical standards in scholarly publishing.
